Contents
The
question whether and to what extent the roots of modern Europe can be
traced back to ancient times is treated from different points of view
by secondary-school-teachers and academic
lecturers.
The Greek and Roman conception of Europe, which cannot be reduced to a
geographical definition, included ideological elements, especially the
pride of being different from Oriental despots. At school, the
young
generation learning classics and history should become acquainted with
the broad horizon of European culture and policy from their beginnings.
The new series Sources of Europe aims to cultivate our knowledge about
traditions, receptions and renaissances during more than 2500 years!
